AM & PM represents Ante Meridiem & Post Meridiem.

A.M. : Ante Marediem. The 24 hour time is divided into two parts. The time starting from midnight that is, 12 in the night to noon is called as A.M or Ante Marediem.

P.M. : Post Marediem. The 24 hour time is divided into two parts. The time starting from noon that is, 12 in the afternoon to midnight is called as P.M. or Post Marediem.
