What is the full form of CAG:

CAG represents Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

It is an authority, which is made by the Constitution of India. CAG plays a very important role. It audits all the expenditures and the incomes made by the Central government of Indian and the State governments. It also audits the departments which are partially financed by the government of India. For government owned corporations like non banking companies and non insurance companies, CAG plays a role of an External auditor.

Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India make reports after doing the audit in all the government owned departments. These reports are checked by the committees on public undertakings and public accounts committees. These two are the committees which are specially made in the parliament of India. The department of CAG has more than 58 thousand employees all over the country.

Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) is the head of Indian audit and accounts department. In the constitution of India, under the article 148-151 CAG is mentioned with all the details. The position of the CAG is ranked 9th and has the same status as of a judge of the Supreme court of India. Since May 2013, Mr. Shashi Kant Sharma is posted as the CAG of India.
