What is the full form of CMOS:

CMOS represents Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor.

CMOS stands for Complementary metal oxide semiconductor. CMOS is a technology used to make Integrated circuits. It is used in many places like microprocessors, microcontrollers, RAM, image sensors, data converters, transceivers etc. CMOS is also known as COS-MOS as it has a pair of complementary and symmetrical p type and n type metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors. The advantages of CMOS devices are: they work with very low power consumption and are very good at noise immunity. The series combination of transistors is on only at the time of on and off switching. Hence, one pair of transistor is mostly off and this reduces the power consumption. CMOS devices produce less waste heat as compared to other devices like NMOS logic or transistor-transistor logic. CMOS is widely used in VLSI chips because it gives a high density of logic functions to be mounted on one particular chip.

Questionnaire:

Q. What is the full form of CMOS?

A. Full form of CMOS in English is Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor.

Q. What does a CMOS represents?

A. Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor is a method used in making integrated chips. This method uses very less power and has a very less noise immunity. Also it provides a large amount of space for logical functions.

Q. What are the uses of CMOS?

A. CMOS is used in making many types of microprocessors, microcontrollers, image sensors, RAMs, data converters, transceivers and many more places.
